IBM, SAP Work to Move Customer Data from SAP Solutions to the Cloud

IBM and SAP are working together to help customers transition their data from SAP Solutions to the cloud in order that they can better harness the resources and computing power made available to them through such an innovation. Towards this end, IBM also announced a new program, BREAKTHROUGH with IBM for RISE with SAP, to gird these ongoing efforts.

SAP Number One Choice in Supply Chain Risk Reduction 

Supply-chain risk reduction was a key issue for many firms throughout 2020 and 2021. Among companies helping firms find solutions for supply-chain risk reduction, SAP was number one and got there providing workable solutions that build resilience while keeping up with the changing pace of the industry.

DHL Supply Chain to Bolster Pharma Logistics Network 

US Life Sciences and Healthcare to add 34 sites by the end of the year thanks to a $400 million investment from DHL Supply Chain. The investment will not only add new capacity but also pioneer new technology as well.

LHSC division President Jim Saponaro said in a statement: “This latest investment in our Life Sciences and Healthcare sector is testament to our track record and pedigree for delivering unrivaled supply chain expertise to our partners. This substantial expansion will only further deepen the connections between our customers and the patients they serve by providing best-in-class end-to-end supply chain solutions.”

"Buy American" Plan Unveils to Ease Supply Chain Issues

The Biden administration unveiled plans to allow government agencies and contractors to spend more for certain items sourced domestically in the United States in a bid to ease the bottlenecks currently happening at ports across the USA.

 

 

What's New in Global Trade & Logistics? 

Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership in Effect for South Korea

A free trade pact between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as well as China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand came into effect for South Korea after the national assembly passed the treaty into law. It is hoped that the agreement will broaden Korea’s trade and diversify its economy.

DHL Express Put Ho Chi Minh City on the Map for US Route

As bilateral trade between the United States and Vietnam increases year by year, DHL Express has added a new route to Ho Chi Minh City in anticipation of this rise continuing for years to come. The new route gives DHL Express an additional 102 tons of capacity.

AF/KLM/Martinaur Cargo Sells DHL 33 Million Liters of Sustainable Aviation Fuel

In what is being called one of the most “significant purchases of sustainable aviation fuel in the freight forwarding industry,” DHL acquired a whopping 33 million liters of sustainable aviation fuel from AF/KLM/Martinair Cargo. This is being billed a significant step not only for DHL’s efforts, but the whole industry as sustainability issues are expected to become increasingly prevalent moving forward.
