What to do in Vegas

Las Vegas is extravagance taken to its most hedonistic end—whether that’s good or bad is outside of our expertise—but there’s certainly something for everyone, especially when it comes to food and drinks! Here’s what our most grizzled Vegas veterans recommend:

Fountains of Bellagio (Free - $$$$)

While the fountain shows at the Bellagio are free to admire from the street, there are several paid options that range from walking tours all the way to 5-star helicopter tours—either way, the show is a Vegas tradition that everyone should experience at least once. The fountain runs every 30 minutes from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and every 30 minutes from noon to 8:00 PM (and every 15 minutes from 8:00 PM to midnight.

Prime Steakhouse ($$$$)

As we mentioned, the Bellagio Fountain show is free and runs constantly during waking hours. However, if you’re looking for the fountain experience, this is our personal recommendation if you want to be as close as possible to the action—let the helicopter tourists gawk with envy!

The Art of Richard Macdonald (Free)

Conveniently located inside the Bellagio’s “O” Theatre lobby, The Art of Richard Macdonald is a free exhibit that “reveals the infinite beauty, athleticism and human spirit and the passion inherent in the human condition.” It may be free to look at the work, but most of us would need to win big at the casino to walk out with one these renowned works!

Madame Tussauds & Gondola Boat Ride ($$)

If you’re looking for the most bang for your buck, it’s hard to beat a tour of Madame Tussauds wax museum, a gondola ride in the Venetian fountain, and an optional meal at the Hardrock Café (and all for $68.99 through Tripadvisor).

Freemont Street (Free – $$$)

If you’re feeling adventurous and want to venture off the beaten path, few things in Vegas come close to the spectacle that is Fremont Street. Lined with innumerable street performers, live bands, and cheap blackjack tables, Fremont Street is the Vegas Insider’s paradise—just don’t hold us liable for what you see!
