Joint Venture Between SAP and Dediq GmbH, SAP Fioneer, Launches
A joint venture for the financial services industry involving Dediq GmbH and SAP called SAP Fioneer is targeting the growing market for core banking, insurance, and financial services industry (FSI) financing solutions. Specifically, SAP Fioneer will enable firms to cost-effectively scale banking and insurance services processes from start to finish using digital business innovations and cloud technology.
SAP’s Anthony Coletta Named New Chief Investor Relations Officer
SAP named Anthony Coletta the firm’s new Chief Investor Relations Officer, replacing Stefan Gruber. With the firm since 2006 and current Chief Financial Officer for North America, Coletta has held leadership positions within SAP as well as at Siemens and ThyssenKrupp.
SAP and Amazon Business Announce Collaboration in Compliance and Corporate Purchasing Market
A feature within SAP Ariba, Spot Buy, is getting augmented with Amazon Business’s powerful portfolio of products in a joint effort to simplify the purchase of business goods.

UPS Completes £138 Million Expansion of Its UK East Midlands Airport (EMA) Hub
UPS proudly opened its new £138 million expanded hub in the United Kingdom’s East Midlands in a bid to connect local firms with global markets in an efficient, reliable, and fast way. The facility hosts the latest in logistics technology and was designed with an aim towards reducing the company’s overall carbon footprint in the area. It features automated scanning and sorting systems, giving it twice the capabilities of the previous facility at 22,500 packages per hour sorted.
DHL eCommerce Plans $300 Million Expansion Into US Market
DHL eCommerce presented a strategy for its planned $300 million expansion of facilities in the US market in order to take advantage of the growing demand for eCommerce shipping solutions in the country. This investment will add 70% more square footage to the network along with automation and IT upgrades.
FedEx Raises Shipping Rates
FedEx Expres is raising shipping in the US 5.9% for domestic, import, and export services while FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery will raise prices some 5.9%. FedEx Ground Economy shipping rates will also increase. FedEx Freight rates for FXF PZONE and FXF EZONE will also rise 5.9% while zones FXF 1000 and 501 will go up some 7.9%. The company will also roll out a series of surcharge changes in the coming months.

Amazon’s New Fulfillment Facility in Ireland Creates 500 Jobs
Amazon’s new fulfillment center in Ireland will not only create 500 jobs but provide faster delivery for customers in the country when it launches in February 2022. As part of Amazon’s expansion of logistics services in the country, the center will also help enable the company’s one-day delivery times for many items.
Rail Yards See Increase in Number of Waiting Shipping Containers
The average dwell time for containers at 11 major railroad depots in the United States reached 9.8 days as strong demand for imports and a shortage of truck drivers combine to put unprecedented strain on logistics networks.
